TechFlow news, according to the Anqing Voice official account, the Tongcheng City Public Security Bureau in Anhui Province successfully intercepted a virtual currency investment fraud case. It is reported that Ms. Hu, the victim, met online in August with a man named Zhang, who claimed to be investing in virtual currencies abroad and posed as her "boyfriend." Under the lure of high returns, he instructed her to prepare 800,000 yuan in cash to hand over to a so-called "account manager."
On November 4, the Tongcheng Anti-Fraud Center received a tip about suspicious financial transactions and swiftly took action. On the morning of November 5, police intercepted Ms. Hu at the entrance of a residential compound just as she was about to deliver 730,000 yuan in cash to the "account manager." Investigation revealed that the alleged "account manager" was actually a "cash mule" hired by an overseas fraud syndicate.
Currently, suspect Liao has been criminally detained on suspicion of fraud, and the full amount of 730,000 yuan has been returned to the victim. Police are conducting further investigations to uncover additional suspects involved. This case serves as another reminder for investors to remain vigilant against virtual currency investment scams and never blindly trust investment advice from strangers.
