TechFlow News, November 13 — According to Forbes, several major French media groups, including Les Echos and Le Parisien, both owned by Europe's richest man Bernard Arnault, announced on November 13, 2024, that they are jointly filing a lawsuit against the X platform. The media groups accuse X of violating the EU’s "neighboring rights" directive by using their news content without payment.
Previously, AFP also filed a similar lawsuit against X, with a court hearing scheduled for May 15, 2025. Notably, this will mark the first legal confrontation between Bernard Arnault, worth $164 billion, and Elon Musk, the current world's richest person with a net worth of $319 billion. On May 24, a Paris court ordered X to provide business data within two months to assess revenues gained from media content, but X has yet to comply with this ruling.
