TechFlow News, October 29 — Stacks co-founder Muneeb announced that the Bitcoin Layer 2 network Stacks has successfully completed its Nakamoto upgrade. Following the upgrade, Stacks block production will operate independently from Bitcoin blocks, reducing transaction confirmation times from the previous 10–40 minutes down to just a few seconds. The upgrade introduces a "fast blocks" mechanism while achieving full Bitcoin finality, with transaction ordering and rollbacks secured by Bitcoin's entire network hash power. Additionally, mining efficiency has been optimized, increasing Bitcoin rewards for Stacks holders. The sBTC project is expected to officially launch in 4–6 weeks. The core development team stated that non-consensus upgrades focusing on network bandwidth and latency improvements will be rolled out in the coming weeks.
