TechFlow news, October 11 — According to Bloomberg, a Nigerian court on Friday rejected the bail application filed on health grounds for Binance executive Tigran Gambaryan, who is on trial over allegations of money laundering and currency manipulation, while ordering prison authorities to provide him with medical treatment. Judge Emeka Nwite of the Federal High Court in Abuja stated that a person being ill "does not automatically entitle them to leave detention, unless continued incarceration poses harm to others and isolation is unfeasible."
According to U.S. lawmakers, Tigran Gambaryan, Binance's compliance head for financial crimes who has been wrongfully detained, has been held in Nigeria since February. His lawyers have repeatedly raised concerns about his deteriorating health and stated he requires surgery. Gambaryan's attorney, Mark Mordi, had pleaded with the court to grant bail so his client could receive medical care for a herniated disc that has severely impaired his ability to walk.
