TechFlow reports on September 30 that according to on-chain investigator ZachXBT, a UK-based scammer has defrauded over 250 users in the past year through X accounts @ape_31 and @60711, illegally profiting more than $650,000. The scam methods mainly include:
-
Posting fake P&L screenshots of Bybit demo accounts.
-
Operating news-style accounts to lure victims into purchasing paid services.
-
Selling "copy trading" services at prices ranging from $250 to $500.
-
Inducing victims to invest additional funds for "portfolio management."
-
Blocking victims on Telegram and X after receiving payments.
ZachXBT cited an example where one victim paid the scammer $500 for copy trading. Subsequently, the scammer claimed there was a "zero liquidation price," and demanded the victim deposit another $20,000 for further trading.
