TechFlow news, XProtocol, an entertainment-focused Ethereum Layer-3 network, announced Wednesday it will launch XForge, an Android smartphone optimized for gaming, later this year. The device is touted as the world's first "DePIN phone," enabling users to earn rewards and participate in airdrops via the Layer-3 network.
Priced at $299, the XForge features 256GB of storage, 12GB of RAM, and is powered by a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor.
Currently built on Base, Coinbase’s Ethereum Layer-2 scaling network, XProtocol plans to eventually migrate to its own Layer-1 network. The company stated that the first 10,000 XForge buyers will receive a "free node."
XProtocol has launched a testnet for its Layer-3 network, with mainnet launch scheduled for Q4 this year. In July, the company announced $800,000 in strategic funding, bringing its total funding to $5.2 million from investors including Singapore-based Saison Capital, Dragonfly, Caballeros Capital, and gaming hardware giant Razer.
