TechFlow news, on September 19, according to Xinhua News Agency, the Liangjiang New Area Branch of Chongqing Municipal Public Security Bureau successfully cracked a virtual currency theft case involving approximately 400,000 RMB, arresting three suspects. The case began at the end of June 2024, when the Tiangongdian Police Station under the branch received a report from a technology company in its jurisdiction, stating that over 2.6 million BLAST tokens (a type of cryptocurrency) had been stolen from its corporate account. By analyzing transaction trails and fund flows, police quickly identified and apprehended the suspects Yang Mou, Wu Mou, and Sheng Mou.
Investigation revealed all three suspects were former employees of the tech company. They abused their positions to implant malicious code into company computers, stealing the company's virtual wallet address and private key password. On the evening of June 26, immediately after the company’s virtual wallet received an official distribution of BLAST tokens, the suspects transferred the tokens to pre-prepared wallets and proceeded to cash out and divide the proceeds. Currently, the three suspects have been formally arrested by prosecutors on suspicion of theft, and the case is undergoing further investigation.
