TechFlow reports that global aviation giant Lufthansa and telecommunications leader Deutsche Telekom have announced the launch of their DePIN blockchain nodes to support operations on the Peaq network.
The Peaq node has been launched jointly by Lufthansa Innovation Hub, Deutsche Telekom, Bertelsmann Investment Company, and Technical University of Munich. The parent companies of these organizations have a combined market valuation exceeding $170 billion.
The Peaq network is scheduled to officially go live during the week of September 23. As node operators, these enterprises will be responsible for maintaining complete copies of the blockchain ledger, validating transactions, and ensuring network security.
Industry insiders speculate that due to surging demand for decentralized connectivity solutions, the next unicorn worth over a trillion dollars could emerge as a DePIN giant akin to Amazon's AWS cloud service.
