TechFlow news: California-based startup Altera has launched a groundbreaking simulation project called "Project Sid," deploying over 1,000 autonomous AI agents to collaborate within the world of Minecraft. Altera claims its agents have collected 32% of the available items in Minecraft—five times more than previously reported by any single AI agent.
The project has drawn attention from tech industry leaders including Marc Andreessen and Eric Schmidt.
Led by Robert Yang, former MIT assistant professor and CEO of Altera, the project aims to explore the potential of AI agents to form complex societies and solve problems collectively.
According to Altera, the AI agents in Project Sid can operate autonomously for hours or even days without human intervention, developing their own economies, cultures, religions, and governmental structures.
