TechFlow news: Ordinals founder Casey has announced a major update to the ord tool via social media. According to Casey, thanks to ongoing performance optimizations by a contributor (funded by donations from OOI), the size of the full ord index has been reduced from approximately 270GB to around 170GB—a reduction of nearly one-third.
At the same time, the full indexing time has been shortened from about 40 hours to roughly 22 hours, cutting the duration by nearly half.
Casey explained that these performance improvements stem from a pull request that unifies the storage of transaction and UTXO-related data tables. By retaining only one entry per UTXO, the number of database keys containing TXIDs is reduced, along with fewer write operations to the index.
Casey also noted that this update includes several minor enhancements and expressed gratitude to all contributors. It's important to note that ord is experimental software; users should exercise caution when using it, especially when performing wallet-related operations, due to potential risks involved.
