TechFlow reports that Bitcoin L2 project Fractal Bitcoin has announced the official launch of its public testnet, marking the completion of the test phase reset.
This update includes several key components: open-sourcing of Fractal node code, activation of OP_CAT, establishment and scheduling of BRC-20 rules, and release of developer resources.
To foster closer collaboration with the community prior to mainnet launch, Fractal has opened its code during the testnet phase. Based on community voting results, the OP_CAT opcode has been successfully activated on the Fractal public testnet. BRC-20 will be activated at block height 21,000—expected in approximately seven days—with only inscriptions after this block height considered valid.
Specific BRC-20 rules on Fractal include: token symbols must be between 6 and 32 bytes in length, limited to the character set "a-z A-Z 0-9 _", and all tokens will have the self_mint field enabled.
