TechFlow news — On August 9, according to Cointelegraph, social media platform X has agreed to suspend the collection and processing of user data in the European Union. Following a hearing at an Irish court on August 7, the local Data Protection Commission (DPC) stated that X has agreed to halt processing personal data collected from public posts of its EU/EEA users between May 7 and August 1, 2024, which had been used to train its AI system "Grok".
Since Elon Musk completed his acquisition of X at the end of October 2022, he has made significant investments into integrating AI on the platform. Since then, the platform has faced intense scrutiny from regulators worldwide over its operational practices.
