TechFlow news — Tim Walz, the Minnesota governor recently selected as Kamala Harris's running mate for the Democratic vice-presidential nomination, received a $4,000 political donation in October 2022 from Nishad Singh, former FTX engineering director. According to reports, Walz later returned the donation amid controversy surrounding the FTX collapse.
Governor Walz has remained silent on digital assets and blockchain issues and has not yet articulated a clear stance on cryptocurrency policy.
According to Axios, Walz does not hold stocks, mutual funds, bonds, private equity, real estate, or cryptocurrencies, potentially reducing conflicts of interest when shaping related policies.
While serving as a congressman in 2011, Walz sponsored the "Stop Trading on Congressional Knowledge (STOCK) Act," which requires members of Congress to disclose their asset transactions during their term in office.
