TechFlow reports that Eclipse Foundation, a parallel EVM blockchain, has announced the official opening of the Eclipse mainnet to developers. The foundation will host its first hackathon, "Total Eclipse Challenge," from August 7 to 21, with nearly $50,000 in prizes across five tracks: DeFi, gaming, consumer applications, meme coins, and infrastructure.
Developers can obtain RPC access via documentation and use the CLI to bridge ETH to Eclipse. The mainnet is currently in its initial phase and plans to gradually upgrade toward a fully decentralized rollup. In the next stage, the mainnet will open to the public, at which point withdrawal functionality will be enabled at a minimum.
As the first SVM (Solana Virtual Machine) L2 solution on Ethereum, Eclipse aims to combine Solana's high-speed performance with Ethereum's liquidity advantages.
