TechFlow reported that cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase has filed a motion with a New York court, requesting an order compelling the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and its Chair Gary Gensler to produce key documents related to the ongoing litigation.
Coinbase claims that prior to initiating its lawsuit, the SEC held meetings with stakeholders in the crypto market, including Coinbase, and issued relevant guidance.
Coinbase specifically seeks documents relating to the tokens involved in the litigation, internal deliberations regarding Coinbase's token listings, as well as personal and professional statements made by Gensler during his tenure at the SEC.
Last year, the SEC sued Coinbase for operating an unregistered exchange platform. Coinbase subsequently moved to dismiss the case, but the request was denied. The case is currently in the discovery phase.
