TechFlow news: Scam Sniffer has released its mid-year phishing report for 2024. In the first half of 2024, 260,000 victims lost $314 million on EVM chains, with 20 individuals each losing over $1 million, totaling $58 million. One victim with address 0xfb94d3404c1d3d9d6f08f79e58041d5ea95 lost $11 million, becoming the second-largest theft victim in history. Most ERC20 token thefts resulted from signing phishing signatures such as Permit, IncreaseAllowance, and Uniswap Permit2.
The report highlights that most major thefts involved Staking, Restaking, Aave collateral, and Pendle tokens, recommending improved display of key phishing signatures to protect assets. Victims were primarily directed to phishing websites through fake comments on Twitter accounts. Scam Sniffer recommends users install its browser extension for enhanced security, which integrates blacklists of phishing domains and addresses.
