TechFlow reports that two Chinese nationals were kidnapped and killed in the Philippines, prompting investigation by police from three countries. The victims were a Chinese citizen and Sun, a U.S. Chinese national, both working in the medical equipment industry. They arrived in the Philippines on June 20 and went missing shortly after; their bodies were discovered on June 24.
According to family members, the kidnappers had demanded 15 million RMB converted into USDT cryptocurrency transferred to a designated account. Sun's family refused to pay, while the family of the other victim, Xia, paid 3 million RMB. The Chinese Embassy in the Philippines stated it is fully assisting the families and urging Philippine authorities to apprehend the perpetrators as soon as possible.
