TechFlow news: Fantom has announced the approval of its third Sonic governance proposal. This proposal will initiate a proportional minting of new tokens six months after the Sonic network goes live, to be used for marketing, ecosystem growth, and partnerships.
It will also launch projects in collaboration with the $200 million FTM Sonic Labs Innovation Fund and accelerate the enhanced grant programs of Sonic Labs, including:
-
Sonic Spark: Providing innovation support for early-stage founders and next-generation developers.
-
Sonic University: Offering resources and mentorship to university students to help them build dApps on Sonic.
-
In addition, an innovative annual token burn mechanism ensures all newly minted tokens are dedicated to network growth, with any unused tokens being burned.
Furthermore, if the community decides to cap inflation at 1.5% annually over the next six years, 47,625,000 tokens will be minted each year. If Sonic Labs uses only 5 million tokens in a given year, the Sonic Foundation will burn the remaining tokens.
