OKLink released its May 2024 Security Report, revealing that blockchain security incidents across the network caused cumulative losses of approximately $140 million in May. Among these, phishing attacks accounted for 60.08% of total losses, REKT events for 16.89%, and RugPull events for 1.37%. The largest individual loss from a phishing attack occurred on May 3, when a whale user fell victim to a phishing attack and lost about $70 million (1,155 WBTC). However, on May 10, the hacker returned 90% of the funds to the victim. Additionally, there were 27 reported incidents involving official social media accounts being targeted by scams or phishing attempts, primarily concentrated on X (formerly Twitter), Discord, and various phishing websites. Overall losses from security incidents increased by 27.27% month-on-month.
