TechFlow reports that Muneeb Ali, co-founder of Stacks, has disclosed details of the Stacks Nakamoto upgrade plan on X. The Nakamoto upgrade is set to launch between April 15 and April 29. The new PoX consensus contract (called pox-4) will be activated at a specific Bitcoin block height within this window.
Currently, $1.4 billion worth of STX has reached consensus. This capital will be automatically unlocked (while users continue earning BTC rewards during this cycle), and institutional signers along with the community will re-lock the funds into the new pox-4 contract.
In addition, all launch contracts—including pox-4 and signer binaries—are ready. All Satoshi-level core consensus rules have been completed. Block validation, DKG, StackerDB, term extensions, and other components are complete and currently undergoing testing.
