TechFlow News, the Web3 social protocol Lens Protocol has launched LIP-6, a proposal aiming to standardize the onboarding process for new users by implementing a uniform fee across all applications built on the Lens platform.
The proposal notes that currently, in order to reduce the risk of bot-generated spam within the ecosystem, Lens requires new users to make a one-time payment to create a profile. While this transaction fee is set at 8 MATIC or $10, various applications such as Hey and Tape charge differing onboarding fees. The proposal suggests standardizing these fees and splitting them 50/50.
Under this model, 50% of the fee would go directly to the Lens treasury to support the broader sustainability of the platform, while the remaining 50% would be allocated to the wallet designated by the respective application.
