TechFlow reported that the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) has accused Bitcoin Rodney of defrauding over $7 million through the fraudulent HyperVerse investment scheme.
Bitcoin Rodney has been arrested in Florida and will be transferred to Maryland. An investigation by The Australian revealed that the scheme was operated by the entity HyperTech, although its purported leader, Steven Reece Lewis, allegedly does not exist.
Australian Assistant Treasurer will question the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) about why consumers were not warned regarding the HyperVerse scheme. The U.S. Department of Treasury, IRS, and defense team have not yet responded to requests for comment.
