TechFlow News — According to CNBC, Improbable, the developer behind Yuga Labs' metaverse project Otherside, has sold The Multiplayer Group (MPG), a multiplayer game services company it acquired in 2019, to Keywords Studios for £76.5 million (approximately $97.1 million).
Herman Narula, co-founder and CEO of Improbable, said the sale is part of its "venture investment" strategy—investing in or acquiring teams related to gaming and the metaverse, then choosing later to scale or spin them off. Although this move may suggest Improbable is reducing its gaming-related investments, Narula emphasized that selling MPG does not indicate a reduction in its activities in the sector. "We are not selling any technology, nor are we stopping collaboration with game companies," Narula stated.
Headquartered in Ireland, Keywords operates over 70 studios across Los Angeles, France, Brazil, Mexico, and Spain, primarily providing development services for third-party game developers. Founded in 2018, MPG is known for its behind-the-scenes work on games such as *Fallout 76* and *Medal of Honor: Above and Beyond*.
