TechFlow reports that LayerZero has announced the deployment of LayerZero V2 on over 40 testnets today, along with the release of the V2 technical whitepaper. LayerZero V2 introduces upgrades including a Decentralized Verification Network (DVN), adapters, X-of-Y-of-N modular verification, permissionless execution, security stack enhancements, increased throughput, improved programmability, unified semantics, and V1 compatibility. LayerZero aims to establish itself as a cryptographic primitive on par with Bitcoin and Ethereum.
In addition, the LayerZero mainnet is expected to launch in January 2024. This launch will include V2 endpoints on every chain previously supported by V1. All Omnichain contract standards—OApps, OFTs, and ONFTs—will be available at mainnet launch.
