TechFlow reports that BNB Chain has released a technical roadmap aiming to increase the transaction speed of its Layer 2 network, opBNB, to 10,000 transactions per second within the next six months, while simultaneously reducing network fees by 90%.
The first fee reduction is scheduled for December 4, lowering fees from $0.005 to $0.001.
Based on Optimism's OP Stack, opBNB's target speed would make it one of the fastest Layer-2 networks. Arbitrum, a popular fork of Optimism, claims a processing capacity of 40,000 transactions per second.
Since its launch in September, opBNB's user base has steadily grown, reaching a record 5.4 million transactions last week and surpassing 20 million cumulative transactions. Developers stated they expect to double opBNB's gas limit per block to 200 million per second.
