TechFlow news — According to The Information, OpenAI co-founder and board director Ilya Sutskever told staff on Sunday that Sam Altman will not return as OpenAI's CEO, despite executive efforts to bring him back.
Sutskever also announced that Emmett Shear, co-founder of video streaming platform Twitch, will serve as interim CEO.
This decision could deepen the crisis triggered by the board's sudden ousting of Altman and the removal of president Greg Brockman from the board last Friday. Brockman resigned later that day, followed by three senior researchers, threatening a broader wave of departures involving OpenAI's competitors, including Google, as well as Altman's new venture he has been planning since his dismissal.
