TechFlow news: The UK has announced increased funding for two artificial intelligence (AI) supercomputers, totaling £300 million (approximately $364 million). These computers aim to support the development of safer advanced AI models and are set to become operational by summer 2024.
The two new supercomputers will provide UK researchers with over 30 times the computing capacity of the current largest public AI computing resource. Specifically:

One named Isambard-AI, to be built by Hewlett Packard Enterprise, equipped with 5,000 advanced Nvidia AI chips;

The second named "Dawn," to be created by Dell and powered by 1,000 Intel AI chips.
In addition, U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris emphasized the potential risks of AI during the first day of the summit, including cyberattacks and AI-designed biological weapons. Harris called for urgent action to address these threats.
