TechFlow news, according to The Block, Ava Labs has proposed the Astra upgrade for Avalanche subnets to improve independent operations from the main blockchain.
The first phase aims to simplify tasks for subnet validators by reducing their need to validate the main Avalanche network. Subnet validators will no longer need to initialize and sync the C-chain and X-chain, focusing only on the P-chain.
Subsequent phases will shift subnet validation from a staking model to a rent-based model, introducing "pay-as-you-go" fees in AVAX.
