TechFlow reports, according to Lianhe Zaobao, that Singapore's Attorney-General's Chambers has established two dedicated task forces—the Technology Crime Task Force and the Cryptocurrency Task Force—to keep pace with the evolving landscape of technology-related crimes, with approximately 20 prosecutors assigned to these areas.
-
The Technology Crime Task Force primarily handles computer or technology-assisted crimes and matters involving digital evidence.
-
The Cryptocurrency Task Force focuses on issues arising from cryptocurrencies as assets, including assisting the Singapore Police Force in tracing, recovering, and disposing of such assets.
Deputy Chief Prosecutor Ong Hian Sun of the Attorney-General's Chambers emphasized that the rapid advancement of technology has transformed the nature of crime, and law enforcement agencies must continuously learn and adapt to understand how criminals exploit technology and to combat emerging tech-enabled crimes.
