TechFlow News – Nick, a former employee of Clockwork, a decentralized automation network in the Solana ecosystem, tweeted that due to high opportunity cost and limited commercial prospects, the Clockwork development team and himself have decided to discontinue protocol development. Developers may continue using the software they've built, but the team will shut down nodes on both Devnet and Mainnet by October 31.
On-chain programs will be frozen, and the codebase will remain open-source and freely available on GitHub. The team fully supports forking and relaunching the protocol if the community wishes to improve it. For current users relying on Clockwork, the team will do its best to ensure service continuity.
Previously, Clockwork announced a $4 million seed round on August 30, 2022, led by Multicoin Capital and Asymmetric, with participation from Solana Ventures and El Cap Ventures.
