TechFlow reports that the Kenyan government has formed a 15-member parliamentary committee led by Narok West MP Gabriel Tongoyo to investigate the cryptocurrency project Worldcoin. The congressional committee will conduct its investigation into the project within 42 days and submit a report to the House Committee. Nearly three weeks ago, Kenya suspended Worldcoin's operations after the project failed to comply with government orders to stop scanning users' irises.
Interior Cabinet Minister Kindiki Kithure, who played a key role in suspending Worldcoin's operations, told the House Committee that the government is concerned about Worldcoin's activities involving citizen registration and collection of eye/iris data, claiming these activities constitute serious security risks.
