The list includes Tracy Wang, who won a Polk Award for her reporting on the FTX collapse, particularly her coverage of "SBF's inner circle's lavish lifestyle," as well as other editors and journalists. Hochstein highlighted these former employees' contributions to journalism and urged other companies to hire them. CoinDesk officially confirmed the layoffs by retweeting the post.
Earlier, on August 14, The Block reported, citing sources familiar with the matter, that CoinDesk would lay off 20 staff members—around 45% of its editorial team—due to parent company DCG's plans to bring in strategic investors.
