TechFlow news: The Ethereum Go client has released Geth v1.12.1, a maintenance release containing security fixes, and users are advised to upgrade. This is also the largest maintenance release in its history, focusing on the upcoming Cancun hard fork.
The release introduces type definitions and state transition logic for EIP-4844 "Shard Blob Transactions," and adds a new disk-based database memory pool called blobpool to support this transaction type.
The blobpool is not yet used in the p2p network and remains under testing in the Cancun development networks. Additionally, Geth no longer supports the Rinkeby testnet.
