TechFlow news, according to The Block, a16z crypto has launched two SNARK-related technologies: Lasso and Jolt.
These technologies aim to enable scalable ZK-rollups, which are typically compute-intensive.
The a16z crypto research team said Lasso and Jolt offer more efficient approaches to SNARK design, potentially making development faster and easier to understand.
The a16z crypto research team stated that Lasso could significantly improve the overall speed of SNARK provers, achieving up to a tenfold performance gain compared to tools like the Halo2 toolchain, thereby helping develop faster ZK-rollups.
In addition to Lasso, a16z crypto also released Jolt, a framework designed for Ethereum Virtual Machine-compatible rollups. The team described it as a new method for building SNARK VMs (virtual machines whose execution is proven via SNARKs) that leverages Lasso. They added that this could allow developers to create faster SNARK-based Layer 2 rollups using their preferred programming languages.
