TechFlow news: Polygon's modular blockchain project Avail has open-sourced a new prototype of the Optimism EVM (OpEVM) software development kit (SDK), enabling developers to build sovereign, EVM-compatible Optimistic Rollups.
This technology provides developers with decentralized infrastructure for L2 operations, supporting a decentralized sequencer set, eliminating the need to establish embedded cross-chain bridges on L1, and achieving truly optimistic verification of state transitions.
Notably, OpEVM is built atop Avail's data availability layer and facilitates the creation of rollups that operate independently of smart contracts. OpEVM is a collaborative project between Avail and Equilibrium Group. The current OpEVM prototype has limitations and is not yet production-ready.
