TechFlow news: Polygon's official Twitter has released a new proposal to upgrade Polygon PoS into a zkEVM validium, becoming the first decentralized ZK Layer 2. As a zkEVM validium, Polygon PoS will inherit Ethereum’s unparalleled security while maintaining low fees and high scalability. This upgrade will showcase Polygon’s strong ZK technological capabilities and bring significant benefits to users and developers.
If approved, the proposal will enable Polygon PoS—with its $2 billion in assets, millions of users, and thousands of applications—to seamlessly migrate to this cutting-edge technology. The chain will continue to be operated by existing $MATIC-staked validators, who will become the validators powering the first decentralized sequencer and data availability network.
If accepted, the upgrade could launch on mainnet by the end of the first quarter of 2024. We invite everyone to read the blog post and proposal, and join the discussion. Let’s fully harness the power of ZK technology to unify Polygon PoS with all other Polygon chains into the value layer of the internet—Polygon 2.0.
