TechFlow news, on June 6, Sequoia Capital released a "Global Business Update" announcing it will be split into three separate entities. Sequoia Capital stated that operating a decentralized global investment business has become increasingly complex. As each entity's portfolio continues to expand, market confusion has grown due to the shared Sequoia brand and overlapping portfolios across entities.
Following the split, the U.S./Europe venture capital operations will continue under the name Sequoia Capital. Sequoia's China business will retain the Chinese name "红杉" and adopt the English name "Hongshan." Sequoia India/SEA will be renamed Peak XV Partners.
According to Forbes, on Tuesday morning, Sequoia Capital's global leadership confirmed the news in a letter to LPs, signed by the leaders of the three firms: Roelof Botha, Neil Shen, and Shailendra Singh.
