TechFlow news: Bali Governor Wayan Koster said that Bali will crack down on foreign tourists using cryptocurrency as a payment method at hotels, restaurants, tourist destinations, shopping malls, and other locations.
He emphasized that any misconduct, activities not permitted under visa regulations, use of cryptocurrency as payment, or violations of other rules will be severely handled, including measures such as deportation, administrative sanctions, criminal penalties, and closure of business premises.
In addition, according to Indonesia's Law No. 7 of 2011 on Currency, the use of any currency other than the Indonesian rupiah as a means of payment is prohibited. Any person using forms of currency other than the Indonesian rupiah faces a maximum penalty of one year in prison and a fine of up to 200 million Indonesian rupiah (approximately $13,300).
