TechFlow news, on May 22, in response to claims that OpenAI founder Sam founded Worldcoin, Nothing Research partner 0xTodd stated this is incorrect.
In fact, the idea for Worldcoin was first proposed by Sam at the end of 2019, shortly after he left Y Combinator; it was the first direction he pursued. Later, Sam brought in two co-founders, Max and Alex Blania, to jointly establish Worldcoin.
Although Sam is considered one of the founders of OpenAI, he does not hold an operational role at Worldcoin and serves only as a board member. While there is a connection between the two organizations, it is not as close as many assume.
