TechFlow news: According to official announcements, Avalanche has declared on Twitter the activation of the Cortina upgrade on the mainnet. Cortina is the latest version of AvalancheGo and includes three key optimizations designed to enhance the experience for developers on Avalanche.
Previous reports indicated that the Cortina upgrade involves migrating the X-Chain to run the Snowman++ consensus, meaning the entire network has now migrated to a single consensus engine, reducing the size of the trusted computing base and increasing leverage for existing research and development efforts. The Cortina upgrade also introduces batched staking rewards and raises the C-Chain gas limit to 1500 gas.
