TechFlow News — During the FIL Singapore event on Monday, Colin Evran, co-lead of Protocol Labs—the development lab behind Filecoin—said that the number of storage providers on the Filecoin network is growing by 20% month-on-month, with most activity occurring in North America, South Korea, and Hong Kong. Currently, around 7,000 new developers are building applications on the Filecoin blockchain.
Juan Benet, founder of Protocol Labs, stated that approximately 20,000 individual users are currently using Filecoin to store over 50 million data objects, all of which are used to run DApps.
Notably, the Filecoin Virtual Machine (FVM) is expected to launch in early 2023. Its testnet will go live on November 28 this year. The Layer 2 prototype (a standalone blockchain operating on top of the main chain) has already entered initial testing phases and will enable a more scalable Filecoin network upon release.Source
