TechFlow News – According to official updates on June 17, FTX announced it has signed an agreement to acquire Canadian crypto asset trading platform Bitvo (Bitvo, Inc.). FTX founder and CEO Sam Bankman-Fried stated, "We are excited to enter the Canadian market and continue expanding FTX's global reach. FTX is actively engaging with regulators worldwide, and this expansion marks another significant step forward."
Notably, Bitvo is a compliant exchange in Canada. In April 2022, Bitvo became the first crypto trading platform registered for compliance in Alberta, Canada, and operates under the regulation of Canada's Securities Act, enabling it to offer users in the region a secure and simple way to trade and purchase crypto assets. Additionally, Bitvo is registered with Canada's Financial Transactions and Reports Analysis Centre (FINTRAC) as a money services business.
