TechFlow news — A source said that Mohalla Tech, the parent company of ShareChat, known as the "Indian version of TikTok," has secured nearly $300 million in funding, valuing the company at close to $5 billion. Participants in the round include Google, media conglomerate Times Group, and Singapore's Temasek Holdings. The source added that the financing deal is expected to be officially announced as early as next week. Mohalla Tech has not yet commented on the matter.
Additionally, ShareChat lists Twitter and Snap as its investors. The source noted that if Tesla CEO Elon Musk's bid to acquire Twitter is approved, he could end up holding a 6% to 8% stake in ShareChat.
