TechFlow news — Ethereum founder Vitalik stated on Twitter that his newly established Balvi fund has granted donations to multiple projects, including a $2.5 million grant to RaDVaC, an open-source coronavirus vaccine research initiative, $1 million to ActiveBuildings, a developer of air purifiers designed to filter viruses, $3 million to Long COVID, a research organization focused on studying patients with long-term effects of COVID-19, and funding for the Upper Room UVGI ultraviolet light project.
"The future of bio-defense is decentralized, open, collaborative—and in fact does not require infringing upon the livelihoods and freedoms of millions. But it does require supporting dedicated smart individuals as they work to deliver these technological solutions," Vitalik said.
Balvi is a direct donation fund set up by Vitalik in January this year to support high-impact coronavirus research projects.
