TechFlow news — Ethermine, an Ethereum mining pool, has announced the launch of its Ethermine Staking Beta version. The pool claims that "Ethermine Staking is Austria's first regulated investment product based on Ethereum's PoS." However, they did not elaborate on what "regulated" means in this context.
According to Trustnodes, staking itself is not regulated in Europe or elsewhere. However, when ETH is staked with third parties like Ethermine, a custodial trust relationship may be established, which would require KYC procedures for stakers.
Ethermine stated that due to KYC requirements for regulatory compliance, Ethermine Staking will not support customer registrations from the United States for the foreseeable future.
