TechFlow News — U.S. law enforcement officials said they have recovered $2.3 million in Bitcoin paid to the cybercriminal group DarkSide, which was involved in last month's ransomware attack on Colonial Pipeline, the largest fuel pipeline operator in the United States. FBI agents leading the operation said that even foreign cybercriminals like DarkSide eventually rely on U.S. infrastructure at some point during their criminal activities. Once they do, it provides the FBI with a legal opportunity to recover the funds. According to people familiar with the matter, the pipeline company paid hackers nearly $5 million in Bitcoin in total.
