TechFlow news — GAC NIO's official Weibo account has issued an apology statement: "GAC NIO has always paid close attention to the central bank's pilot policies on digital currency and internally promoted preparations for adopting digital currency.
"This time, without sufficient consideration and without obtaining financial regulatory approval, we announced becoming the first automaker to accept digital currency payments, drawing widespread public attention. For this, we sincerely apologize.
"We have conducted rigorous internal self-inspection and rectification, and seriously dealt with the relevant responsible personnel. We earnestly request supervision and correction from all sectors of society."
