TechFlow News, December 29 — During the "Props Webinar" AMA, addressing the question of how the SEC’s regulation of the crypto space might change following the appointment of new acting SEC Chair Roisman, Props founder Adi Sideman noted that Roisman (a Republican) would likely serve only for a few weeks as interim chair, after which the Biden administration would appoint a new chair (a Democrat).
Generally speaking, Republicans are seen as favoring reduced regulation, while Democrats tend to support increased oversight. However, when it comes to cryptocurrency, the chairperson's political affiliation may not be the decisive factor. Instead, the SEC will likely continue developing guidelines and enforcement actions within the Howey Test framework, persisting with their current approach—slow yet heavy-handed—while allowing the market to gradually realize its potential over time.
