TechFlow news — According to the Each Day Economic News, on Friday (July 31) local time, prosecutors in Tampa, Florida, announced the arrest of a 17-year-old man suspected of orchestrating a Bitcoin scam using hacked celebrity Twitter accounts. The suspect is facing more than thirty felony charges.
According to the prosecution, the scam involved over thirty victims and more than $100,000 in losses. Hillsborough County State Attorney Andrew Warren stated in a press release that while the fraud deliberately used celebrity accounts, the celebrities themselves were not victims. The Bitcoin scam was specifically designed to target ordinary Americans across the country. Under Florida law, Graham Ivan Clark, the primary perpetrator accused of financial fraud, can be charged as an adult despite being only 17 years old.
