TechFlow News, on July 14, Sablier Labs Co-founder and CEO Paul Razvan Berg (@PaulRBerg) posted on the X platform that Sablier Labs officially announced the cessation of active product development on July 13, 2026, entering maintenance mode, with the maintenance period lasting until June 2028.
Existing users' token streams, vesting schedules, and airdrops remain unaffected. Sablier smart contracts are permissionlessly deployed on-chain and do not rely on company operations, allowing users to continue normal operations. The official interface will be handed over to the community after the maintenance period ends, continuing operations as an open-source public good.
The company has advanced the conversion of the main EVM smart contract license from BUSL 1.1 to GPL to July 13, 2026, with the original planned conversion date being July 1, 2029. The community can now freely Fork, modify, and deploy the contracts.
Core reasons for stopping development:
- Market deterioration in Q1 2026, with significant declines in usage and revenue
- AI-assisted programming significantly lowered the barrier to replicating Sablier's products
- The market size of the on-chain token distribution/cashflow sector is insufficient to support a venture capital-level business model
